She has also broken new ground with this new album by including material co-written with her husband Steve Evans. The album has been hailed as a major achievement not only for Mairi but Gaelic singing.

On the album Mairi is ably assisted by William Jackson on clarsach, whistles and bodhran; Tony McManus on guitar; Foz Paterson on keyboards; Wendy Weatherby on cello and Fred Morrison on the bagpipes.

There are no pretences about Mairi MacInnes, just listening to this album will convince you that she sings from the heart with great dignity and sincerity. The added bonus is that not only has Mairi a beautiful voice but she is an authentic Gaelic singer.

"The added bonus is that in her partner, Steve Evans, she has found the perfect songwriting foil and a short listen to Follow the Light or the ode to beauty and joy of parenthood, Precious Days, will prove that this one partnership will run and run and run. Glorious."
(Sean McGhee, Rock'n'Reel)

"I was very moved by the album and the depth of her expression and her voice has a round, light quality"
(MacDuff's Kilt)

"The charms of This Feeling Inside are less up-front but are many, and increase on repeated listening... Highly recommended... Her golden liquid voice can alternate with ease between being sweet and light or powerful and dark, sometimes almost at the same time..."
(Bob Walton, FRoots)

"She sings Gaelic traditional songs with a timeless grace. MacInnes is a powerful singer with a sanguine lift on the fast pieces and a plaintive keening on the slower numbers. She includes a couple of marathon mouth music sets (each with four songs run together) to affirm her reputation as one of the finest of Gaelic singers..."
(Ivan Em, Dirty Linen)
